Konrad was born in Chicago and went on to receive degrees from the Art Institute of Chicago, the University of Chicago and Governors State University. In 1969, he served as a combat artist for the Department of Military History in Viet Nam and has continued to contribute his art to the American Society of Aviation Artists, the NASA Art Collection and the Midwest Air Force Artists Association. Significant recognition has been given his work entitling him to be a signature member of the Oil Painters of America while his work continues to be widely exhibited and avidly collected.
